Good Directions

Make sure in your group has good driving directions, and know the correct address and phone number of the Blackwater Canoe Rental.

What To Bring

  • Appropriate dress for swimming and sunning
  • Suntan lotion 
  • Plenty to eat and drink
  • Litter bags to help keep the river clean.
These items are available at the Blackwater Canoe Outpost.

Important Information

  • GLASS CONTAINERS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE RIVER
  • The State Park charges a $4.00 day-use fee per vehicle.
  • Remember to leave only your footprints when you depart!
  • Please help keep our rivers clean

Driving Directions

From Mobile

  • I-10 East to Pensacola and follow the Pensacola directions below. 

From Pensacola

  • I-10 East to Exit #31
  • Exit and turn left on Hwy. 87.
  • Go 1 mile to Hwy. 90.
  • Turn RIGHT on Hwy. 90, and go 5 miles.
  • On the right, look for a yellow and red "BLACKWATER CANOE RENTAL" sign, and a small brown "BLACKWATER STATE PARK" sign.
  • Turn LEFT at the sign.
  • Follow signs to BLACKWATER CANOE RENTAL & OUTPOST.

From Fort Walton

  • Go north to Niceville.
  • Take Hwy 85 North to Crestview.
  • Take I-10 west to Exit #45.
  • Exit and turn RIGHT.
  • Go 1 mile to Hwy 90.
  • Turn LEFT and go 7.5 miles, look for a yellow and red "BLACKWATER CANOE RENTAL" sign, and a small brown "BLACKWATER STATE PARK" sign.
  • Turn RIGHT at the sign.
  • Follow signs to BLACKWATER CANOE RENTAL & OUTPOST. 

From Destin

  • Take Mid Bay Bridge to Niceville.
  •  Turn North (RIGHT) on Hwy 85 to Crestview.
  • Take I-10 west to Exit #45.
  • Exit and turn RIGHT.
  • Go 1 mile to Hwy 90.
  • Turn LEFT and go 7.5 miles, look for a yellow and red "BLACKWATER CANOE RENTAL" sign, and a small brown "BLACKWATER STATE PARK" sign.
  • Turn RIGHT at the sign.
  • Follow signs to BLACKWATER CANOE RENTAL & OUTPOST.

Round-Trip Service

Blackwater Canoe Rental offers a complete round-trip service. We meet you at the end point of the river trip, park you, and transport you upstream to the launch point. Toward the end of your trip, you  will encounter the Blackwater State Park. It offers large pavilions, restrooms, and outdoor showers. You will end your trip back to where your car is parked. Simply beach your canoe, tube, or kayak.
